In 1494 Alexander Hoppringill took action against Thomas and John Borthwick of Crookston over their destruction and downcasting of his tower-house and place of Burnhouse.

The Pringles of Burnhouse were an old cadet branch of the Pringles of that ilk, but in the reign of James III, Adam became the heir of the Pringles of that ilk and clan chief.
